As an aspiring 3D Environment Artist after recently graduating from University I have been working on a personal project of mine for my portfolio. This environment is a concept developed for an interactive third person action game it features coastal cliffs, cloud fog materials and implementing an ocean water system. Using the water system allowed me to gauge the main focus of the island aesthetic that I was trying to achieve. I enjoyed experimenting with the different buoyancy physics settings which created a realistic depiction for the environment transforming my scene. In future projects I would like to progress my knowledge of the capabilities that Unreal Engine allows such as Niagara water systems and waterfall effects for example.
I also experimented with lighting as this is such an essential part for all scenes and 3D environments. By creating a daytime and nighttime aesthetic it demonstrates the contrasts and mood well, also showing the audience that this scene can be played at different times. I was most pleased with the nighttime renders and aesthetic because it looks very realistic and the water system really adds to the horror look that I was going for.
