Library

I decided to work on a Library scene for my next portfolio piece in Unreal Engine 5 using modular design. This time I wanted to utilise a slightly stylized look as I thought this would give the scene an animated feel and use a different art style compared to previous projects. I was inspired by one of my favourite films monsters university and drew inspiration from that library whilst also using real life imagery as I wanted to create a scene which had a cheerful and warm mood but also adhering to particular architectural structures. I was responsible for creating all assets of this scene which were modelled in Maya and the trimsheet was textured in Substance Painter. However, the tileable texture for the floor was created using Substance Designer. The props such as the book and the lamp used a low to high poly workflow and were textured in Substance Painter. I would have liked to add more props to this scene just to fill it out a bit more than it is right now however, I was pleased with the outcome. In comparison to previous projects of mine that I have completed I spent a considerable amount of time trying to get the lighting to a reasonable standard and there are still gaps in my knowledge that I would like to fill. But I think the overall scene is well lit as those darker areas I fixed by toggling with post processing settings which was essential because I did not want to add too many artificial lights.
